thoughts 2005:

Much of the work that I’ve created over the past 20 years or so has, for the most part, been very fragile, ephemeral and very small. That has been the work that is most precious to me. It has been seen very little.

Right now, I want to take those same concerns and interests that I’ve
always had -
- color
- minimalism
- “women’s work”
- close observation and participation of the moment I’m in
- trust
- what is “important to an individual & what is “important” in the world
and see if there are ways that the world and I can compare notes.

In this work, Loom 1 & 2, I like the double meaning of the word loom. “Loom” where it’s a tool for forming cloth made from threads, and “loom” to appear in an impressively great or exaggerated form. I like the idea that these small forms can be made to seem bigger thru the use of light to create shadows. They can “loom” which implies a scary thing, and as is so often the case, what we are afraid of is just made of shadows, and often, when we finally understand, shadows are simply the unacknowledged part of ourselves.
